Spend the money and get one from Summit or a reputable shop. I know we all like to save money but I look at it this way would you rather spend the couple of hundred on a good gauge or a couple thousand on rebuilding your engine after melting a piston.

I use Autometer gauges also in my truck. I think mine was 170 total including the cup I mounted it in. Only complaint I have is the installation adapter they send is weak. I was screwing mine in and it snapped. I just welded the adapter onto the bung right where it broke off. It also needs to have the eyelets that mount to the gauge opened just slightly to fit on the studs. I couldn't just cut the eyelets off and use others as the length of the wire is critical to getting a proper reading. Anyone who runs into this issue I suggest a small rattail file to open the hole up just a small amount. Other then that it works great. I'll have to take a pic of my finished gauges and put it into my gallery.

never had a problem with the adapter in the two trucks i've put guages in, i do agree that the eyelet was too small and where u join the length of wires to the probe is a pain b/c they are supposed to be staggered and both wires where the same length on mine

I just folded the yellow wire back onto itself and shrunk the heat shrink on it. As to the breaking the adapter I'm probably twice as strong as the average person. I have a bad habit of ripping the guts out of my snapon ratchets no matter what the size. The screws with nuts sucked but they work. I would have used nuts and bolts myself as you would be assured of a good connection. I sent my concerns to Autometer and my suggestions on how to address them. We'll see if they listen in the near future.
