Hello; I heard that the 300 engine numbers behind the passanger side engine mount will give away the engine year? Does anyone know if that is true? I'm trying to find out what year my engine is as I know the truck is an 1985. The numbers are as follows:
Z
CP 27
This is the way it looks..Any help would be appreciated
Yep, the numbers are right behind the pass side motor mount, they should be in the format of like D5TE-601S-AA. The first 2 digits are what you need. The first digit is for decade
c=1960
d-1970
e=1980
and then the second digit is year. The above one I put D5 would be 1975. The third digit will tell if is truck or car. Well I hope this helps..
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 03-Mar-02 AT 11:21 AM (EST)]What ever number you find represents the engineering date not date of manufacture e7-xxxx-xx block number means block updated and first manufactured in 1987 but the blocks can be found in trucks through 1996. d7-xxxx-xx where general used from 1977-1986. I do not have a list of all casting numbers that where used.
