360 FE identification?

360 FE identification?
Are there serial numbers on FE's that can tell me the year of the engine. Supposed to be a 360 but was in a '78 F-150 so who knows. I should know where to look but forgot.
Also where to go to decifer the serial number?

well you are sure it is a fe right? they were no longer made after 76. there is a date code below the oil filter housing on the block. but means little. you can't tell what it is from that, just the casting date.
