460 f150

i have an 1987 f.150 and the 351 windsor crapped out. What modifications will i have to make to get the 460 in there and working, i know that i will have to switch out the motor mounts and get a 460 to C6 bell housing, but will the torque converter that is in there now work, if any one has done this swap and has any info id appreciate all the help i can get. Also will my stock front springs hold the big block up or should i get a 2 inch lift spring while im at it, i run 31-10.50s

Definitly going to have beef up the suspension, the 460 weighs alot more than the 351W, you get some 2WD F-350 coils to hold the weight.

I thought the 460 only weight 150 lbs more. Hmm, maybe I was told wrong.

150 pounds sitting right on top of those factory (and probably not new) springs is not an insignificant amount of weight. There's a risk of too much suspension travel, plus the weight will take it's toll on all the mounting hardware.

It's doable, but unless you have the 460 sitting around for free it would probably cost less to get a rebuilt 351 than to do all the work to get the 460 crammed in there.

I have an 1988 F-250 with the 351 and I was thinking of doing the same thing.
Would I need to do the same coil change out ??

check out www.landlproducts.com they have conversion kits specificaly for what you want. You'll need a big block transmision, the C6 has an integral bell housing so a small block tranny will not work, different bolt pattern and bell size
