i'm ready to get attacked, but let me just say that the front of my truck was blue, the back of the cab was black, and the box was purplish-blue. Now it is all flat black, and, yes, my buddy and i old school rattle-canned it. pics in the gallery

Heck, I wouldn't let a rattle can paint job bother you. I did a 64 Dodge truck, a 68 Falcon Futura, and a 1986 GMC one ton with rattle cans. Actually the Dodge got sprayed twice. Once when I got it, to cover the Turquise, and then again latter my nephew who now had the truck painted over my white/blue to make it black and gold. I guess he saw Smokie and the Bandit...
Years ago a buddy and I were running a 55 Chevy at the drags. We had been working hard at stripping the paint of the car (it had been painted at lest 5 times before) to get it ready for paint. The night before the first drags of the season we decided we couldn't take the car to the track looking so crappy...........off to the store we went to get a case of flat black primer.
Man did I have a heck of a headache the next morning!! but the car was all one color.
Your truck looks good. I've been toying with the idea of making my truck all one color using the same method.

Remember little weedhopper, the largest journey starts with just one footstep. LOL Seriously that looks pretty good, at least you plan on driving it and having fun with it.
You're not going to haul it around in a trailer now are you?
There are experts at every level, and you my friend, are now an expert rattle can painter. For the money , it looks good, and it will keep the rust at bay until more paint can be applied.
I managed a hardware store in the 70's and two of my regulars, came in and bought a gallon or two of red Exo-rust and a wagner power sprayer and said they were going to repaint their 1959 F-600. I told them to bring it by when they were done, I wanted to see what kind of job they did. With the exception of their masking job and the fact that they painted over some rusty chrome and the emblems (not quite a monochrome paint job), it looked very good. I saw it a year later and it looked even better because the paint didn't stick to the chrome and emblems.
I've done lots of rattle can work and so far done 1 Rustoleum roller job. They both work great considering what you pay. I rattle canned my new Road Armor bumper for my '97 and you can't tell it wasn't sprayed with a gun.
Matthew, That is too nice of a truck to leave for long with that "cheap" paint job. Suede looks great though. You might consider making it "permanent".
