Chip Malfunction

Chip Malfunction
I've had a TS Performance 6 position chip for about a year and a half now and have been happy with it. But two or three times last winter when it was cold out, like 10 degrees, the chip just didn't work. I could turn the **** to any position, but it was like it was set on the stock setting. The reason I know this is because of the low performance and the high idle not working. Now it malfunctioned again a few days ago and it was only like 40 degrees. But if I shut down and restart it a while later it will work totally fine.
Any ideas what the problem may be? Bad ****, bad connection between the chip and computer? I had it taped in. Do you guys put any dielectric grease on the terminals before you plug the chip in?

Its possible that the chip reverts to OEM burn due to the voltage drop from the cold start load. How old are the Batts?
