I read that article about the maverick with interest. I have a little 65 Falcon with a 170ci in it. Its my wife's daily driver and you know how it is, women and carberetors don't mix....lol. EFI would be a cool thing on this little car.
Don't worry about the SBC in your truck, we are a forgivig bunch in this forum. Heck, they put up with me and I have a Caddy engine
This guy primarily does work on factory five cobras. These cars often use the donor (mustang) wiring harness. Some vendors do wire diets that eliminate the extra junk. This guy does this as well he is a very knowlegable hobbiest that does this on the side. He quoted me to make a complete wiring harness for my 56 f100 for less than that $600 for just the engine harness. He will take your old harness clean it up, replace any bad connectors and trim off all the excess stuff. He did a friends car and when I talked to him he is very knowledgeable about the SD cars and even knew my mark vii harness very well. He will also do things like change your alt to a plug setup that uses a newer internally regulated alternator, delete your egr and tad tab stuff. Basically he will make it how you want it.
of course he would also just do a stand alone engine harness for you as well. I know I was just looking at the way the mark vii harness was much more complicated than the mustang harness and I was just scratching my head on what to cut out and what to keep, so I called this guy up and I am glad I did.
You could just go to www.fordfuelinjection.com and get all the wiring diagrams you need. You can also buy all new connectors and for $150 you could make your own custom harness. This is what I'm doing, while I do have a harness it will be a much cleaner setup to mount the computer where you want and then run the wires to the sensors. This will be much like many fuse box setups.
