I don't think there are any serious drag racers who use Ford inline sixes.
But I can see using EGR to boost compression while reducing octane requirements with supercharging. Or using it to allow high compression engines to be supercharged or turbocharged. That would allow better part throttle economy while providing high performance.
Similarly, instead of having the waste gate just by-pass the turbo when max boost is acheived, the waste gate could start to inject EGR into the intake to allow even higher boost without detonation.
So, yes, I could see several high-performance application for EGR techniques.
