Airbag light always on!

Hey everyone, The airbag light in my '94 150 is always on. Does this mean anything bad or is it just a bad fuse? and how can it be fixed.

The PO said he was told this happend in alot of this model truck, if so is it an easy fix?

Thanks,

Alec

bad clockspring, bad relay, bad ground connection.

the relays (2) are in front of radiator under the rubber strip.

unbolt, with ign. off, clean ground, rebolt and than try ignition .

do NOT turn on truck with them unbolted.

if off great.

if blinking than bad clock spring.

Most times means the clock spring is bad when on or blinking. At least was my problem . I'm sure someone else will chime in to clarify .

You have to disconnect the battery . 10 15 minutes remove cover ETC to pull Steering wheel . They r pricey .

I just got a oem off ebay for $30 was listed wrong. But have seen $100 for the fors part.

Good luck

i do recommend checking the ground connections first.

score is 6 fords blinking and 6 fords fixed with not new clock spring just cleaning the sensors where they connect to the vehicle.

cost= $0.00

If your light is on and not blinking it is not the clock spring or a bad mounted sensor.
Possible Causes

Continuous illumination of the air bag indicator can be caused by:

1. A disconnected or poorly connected air bag diagnostic monitor may not push the shorting bar between Pins 4 and 5 into its fully retracted position. This shorts the air bag indicator line to ground and causes the air bag indicator to glow continuously.

2. Shorted air bag indicator wiring.

3. A faulty air bag diagnostic monitor.

If you light is blinking it is blinking a code. Post the code and we can tell you the problem. The code is a two digit code.

If it is blinking the right code then the clock spring will fix it or the sensor remounting will fix it.
Those two will always blink a code. He said his was on all the time and not blinking so it would not be one of these two problems.

But you might be right for the other guy that hi-jacked the thread.

I went out and checked the truck and I let it sit and idle and the light would come on and blink... It blinks 3 times then off for a second then it blinks two more times then stops for 3 seconds... then repeats.

Whats the deal

That is code 32, more than likely a bad clock spring.
Does your horn and speed control work?

DTC 32: DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG CIRCUIT HIGH RESISTANCE OR OPEN

Possible Causes

Excessive resistance across Pins 10 and 11 can be cause by:

1. A poor connection where the air bag sliding contact connects into the main wiring (14401). The air bag sliding contact connector at the base of the steering column may have excessive resistance between the male and female terminals in the connector.

2. An open circuit or high resistance in the windings inside the air bag sliding contact.

3. An open circuit or high resistance in the wiring harness in either Circuit 614 (GY/O) or Circuit 615 (GY/W).

4. An open circuit or high resistance in the driver side air bag module. DO NOT attempt a direct resistance measurement of the driver side air bag module. Follow the diagnostic procedures to determine if the resistance in the driver side air bag module is higher than normal.

Subford... great info! very helpful, and no the horn doesn't work. I was wondering about that too. Is the clock spring something my mechanic can fix? or do i have to bring it to the dealer?

Yes your mechanic can fix it or the dealer. It would be the clock spring with the horn not working also.
