JUst cranked my truck up and was backing out of the carport and I think I heard a pop. The motor shut off and it will turn and turn but it will not fire. ANY IDEAS? PLEASE HELP!! It is almost like when I had an oil leak, and lost 100% of the oil due to a drain plug falling out, and then I had to get a sensor re-set and it has run FINE since then. The motor has 225,000 on it.
The tach moves a little. I have 225,000 + miles on it. Never had any trouble. I run Royal Purple 15W40 in the motor. I am NOT technically inclined, so any help you can give me would be great.
High Pressure Oil Pump.
Please don't assume that is what the problem is. I'm only guessing at the cause of the problem from your description of the sound that the engine made.
You need to get it properly diagnosed.
HPOP's cost around $700.00 plus labor if I remeber correctly.
well, first off:
do you get WTS light ? if not you got a bad fuel bowl heating element.if yes proced....
second : watch you oil Press gauge while you crank and see if it goes up , if not its your HPO system. if yes than you have to keep looking.
if you get all of the above check you fuel pump reset switch in a passenger side kick panel.
second : watch you oil Press gauge while you crank and see if it goes up , if not its your HPO system.
Don't want to be a picky-pants, but doesn't the dash OP gauge measure the LPO system only? By virtue of that failing, there will be no HPO though so that is partially correct. Don't want him zeroing in on that $700+ HPOP unnecessarily.
well when my IPR got stuck open i didnt see my gauge moving. and was no start, just cranking. so im not sure what this gauge monitors but thats what happen to me.
i would check connectore on ICP and IPR too.
Yeah, I didn't think of the fuse popping. I agree, look there first. I was thinking of something breaking and making the pop noise and the HPOP is the only thing that I could think of that wouldn't cause the engine to lock up.
