RV Charge from 7-pin

I was pulling an RV the other day to be repaired and the service tech diag. my 7-pin connection on my '04 SCREW 2WD 5.4L and mentioned to me that while all the lights and trailer brake connections work, the charging wire didn't. He said the Ford house should be able to get that taken care of, but I'm wondering if it's an easy fix I can do or not. I assume there is a fuse that needs to be placed in the fuse box - any suggestions?

Make sure that the relay is installed in the kickpanel by the passengers right foot. It's the ISO Battery charge Relay. These were not installed at the factory, they came in your glove box in a plastic bag.

Is that relatively easy to hook-up myself? I know getting a fuse out of that thing isn't easy unless you spent time in the circus!

Mine was in the pocket in the left door along with the pigtail for an electric brake controller. Takes about 2 minutes to install.

I've got the little bag with the stuff in it. Are there directions somewhere on how to install it?

According to the manual... it looks like location R05 on your trailer charge relay location and fuse location #106.
Also, all of it seems to look like it all goes in your interior fuse box location the far right pssngr-side kick panel. Mine was already in when I purchased the truck new..so I had to look it up.

Hope this helps... Come back if something doesn't pan out...

On Edit... You didn't mention anything on if you're using or wiring E-trailer brakes on. So you may just be able to leave the wire pigtail in the bag.

Yea, a buddy of mine who owned a Lightning had a brake controller rigged up so all I do is plug the controller right into the underside of the dash.

If you go to the fuse panel on the right kickpad, it will only fit in one place. Just turn yourself upside down and use a flashlight and you will see where it goes.

The directions should be in there. The hardest part of installing the relay is getting the panel off! Even without the directions it's EZ to do. Osbornk hit the nail on th head. It only goes in one spot and one way.

Now when everyone say's "It's the only place it would go" I assume everyone means the large black square fuse?
