73-79 race track trim

Need some opinions here:
I have a 78 crew that originally had the racetrack trim. All the doors were rusted out completely, so I acquired 4 different doors, all of which do not have the lower racetrack trim.

I want to put the lower trim on the 4 "new" doors. Should I hang the doors on the truck first then apply the molding OR can I use the "old" doors and measure where the trim needs to be applied to the door and use those measurements to locate the plastic attaching clips on the "new" doors while they are off the truck?

Does anybody have the lower racetrack trim in like new condition for the 6' box?
Thanks,
Eric

Once you remove the trim you should see clips and holes. Use a square and transfer the holes over.

Now you will have trim to align as well as edges when you install the doors. If it's the stick on type, wait till the doors are mounted. Then string a line for alignment.
