Is it worth it.
My friend is giving away this bronco. Its a 87 with the 5.0L. Truck had like 300K on it but engine has 60K on it. Trans is slipping in 1st. Was rebuilt once. Had no trans cooler so in summer it would heat up too much. Something is wrong with the rear driveshaft and wont go back in he says. And a brake line is rotted out up front. He says the tail gate is gone wich is common, most of rear wheel wells are gone, he cut the rust out, and there is holes in the bed in the back. He lives in RI and I live in NJ. Its like a 5hr ride if I do up and get it. Ill have to tow it back so id be going a bit slower comming back. I was thinking about getting it but do you think its worth driving up to get it. I will be getting another bronco in a few months from another friend in return for doing a bunch of welding for him. I figured it would be worth it for parts or just the engine. Let me know. He wants it gone by Dec 15 because he is moving. If I dont take it its going to the junk yard. Let me know what to do.

Go get it even repairin that tranny isn't too hard and you could get the wide ratio
kit for it while you are it and have a killer trail rig. Or just use it as a parts truck
which will save some money for sure if the other truck needs even a few parts
from it!! My vote is for running it as a trail truck without the top doors or windshield
In florida you don't need to have a windshield but you better wear goggles or you
will get pulled over!! If you ever get pulled over for a cracked windshield tell the officer
you'll fix right now and kick it in to the inside(so no littering) and say thank you sir!!

Yea I got to see if I can find someone to come with me. And i need to get a stock set of tires for my truck. 36's humm way to much to listen to for 5hrs. And i get 16mpg with stock to my 9 or so with the 36's.

I would go get the thing. Like Blue Beast said, you can use it as a trail truck, or even part the thing out. I bet you can get a grand or so in parts out of it!@
