well mine is about ready to be replaced as soon as I get the new one I ordered this weekend, it's not plugged but does have probably 30K miles on it. it's yours for the asking just tell me where to send it.
PM sent. Pete, I guess I will answer that again, don't know what happened.
Vacuum vs volume vs apples vs oranges.
I've run both the stock vs the 6637 vs the AIS and the 6637 will breath better than the other two hands down. Max boost with the AIS is 25 psi, with a fresh set of bellowed up pipes and it trips the filter minder to the second line. Herkin' huge Zoodad mod installed.
Easily hit 27-28 with the 6637.
Funny thing is the EGT's never change. Just the max boost.
Agreed Dan. I just want to see if I can suck the paper off of the 6637 and what it takes to do it. I grow weary of this endless discussion. I suspect gross negligence is about the only way to crush it.
Does this mean that you're willing to help someone potentially damage their turbo, but not willing to do the test yourself on your truck - with your gauges and your turbo?...
1) I don't know if you've been following the 6637 testing that Tenn is doing, and I'm helping out a little to sponsor, but Tenn's truck is already setup to do the test and mines not.
2) Besides, no one would believe any test results I posted on the 6637 anyway.
3) Since Tenn runs a 6637, and since he's considering additional mods that will increase the loading on his 6637, he's probably more interested in knowing how much restriction is required to collapse a 6637 than I am, since I never plan on using a 6637.
4) It might be possible to collapse a 6637 with a good shop vacuum, and eliminate the possibility of engine damage.
5) The point I was making to Joe, is that without measurements neither he or anyone else knows for sure just how many inches of H2O it took to crush his 6637 when he revved the engine in his driveway.
6) Since I've already offered to pay for a replacement filter to do the test, if everyone who's already posted on this thread that it's virtually impossible to damage the turbo due to a collapsed 6637 wants to guarantee to cover the cost of any collateral damage, we can line up a crush test at Smokin for all to see!
7) I'm sure if primed with the proper amount of lubrication, Tenn will either say hold my beer while I crush this filter, or more likely, hand me another beer while I crush this filter.
8) I'll be making a video of the entire event with my new video cam that I plan to get prior to Smokin.

Oh, it is not only possible but is going to happen, if I have to hook up several to a single intake. If that doesn't work, I have a few more ideas.

Not enough beer in the world for me to chance that. Kinda like totally plugging your almighty AIS inlet up and running your truck to see what would happen. Don't think you're going to do that either.

I'll have to start looking for a gauge that reads more than the 15" H2O max on your current one. Don't bend the pointer on that nice one.

I thought you wanted an upgraded turbo anyway! Didn't you see the part about all damage being covered?

Got both points Gene. Problem is the tow bill for about 260 miles. I hadn't considered the gauge damage. Damn. Never mind Monster. I am sure it will take more than it will read now that you mention it.

Kris claims he can change a turbo in 17 minutes flat, and there's a huge Ford dealer about 20 miles east of Ashville which is only about 45 min from Smokin!
Collect as many filters as you can get, and I'll pony up for a suitable gauge, which we can both start looking for now, and you can order it direct as before. As Dan suggested, save the best left over filter for my exhaust experiment on the dyno.
Instead of using a plastic bag to generate restriction. Feed the filter a calibrated amount of dirt, and continuously measure inches H20 vs grams of dirt, and see how many grams it takes to cause an additional 30 inches or whatever it takes to deform the filter. You need to video tape the whole experiment and put a U-Tube link to it on FTE.
