Today I was waiting for someone idling and i noticed a different vibration coming through the floor pan than normal. I also thought I heard some type of very minor scraping sound. Could this be the DMF going out? I know the truck had some clutch work done on it around 100,000 miles but not sure if the flywheel was replaced. It has 206,000 now. Is there a way to check if it is the flywheel without dropping the tranny?
pull the inspection cover if it has more than 3/4" of play between the 2 masses its seen better days. get a single mass flywheel and clutch and be done with it.
anyone got a pic of a DMF from an inspection cover view. i removed my inspection cover and still cant tell if its a DMF or a SMF. ive never seen a DMF in person to know what im looking at. pics of both from the edge would be great.
It is getting dark here now but I can pic a DMF in the mornin' for ya. e-mail me to remind me. The DMF has 2 obvioius "plates" just behind the ring gear they are about 3/16" apart and atleast 3/8" thick.
