Hey guys, i was messing around with the ol F150 last night, got it running again. I've replaced alot of the senors in hoping to get it running better, most recently the ECT. it starts up fine, but its running way to rich. Basically flooding it self out and fouling out the plugs. The only sensor its missing is the o2, but that wouldn't affect it until the truck warms up right? Pressure at the rail is 45. Any ideas??
do you not have an O2 sensor hooked up, or is it bad?
The 02 sensor will totally screw with the idle even when cold and if it defaults to an oxygen-rich setting when not hooked up it will make it run VERY rich. Not sure if that is the defualt setting or not, though.
I have driven several vehicles to an exhaust shop after putting headers on them, with the headers not hooked to the exhaust. All the fresh air blowing into the pipe right on the oxygen sensor made it run rich as all hell. If it defaults to something like that with an open signal I'm not surprised you're having the trouble you are.
no the wires are gone..was like that when i bought it and haven't gotten around to fixing it. I was going to sell the truck, but know i kinda wanna keep it. I'll order a sensor and see if that helps.
