Hey everyone wonderin what percent factory glass is tinted. I had my two front windows tinted but they came out blueish and i'm not happy. I want to rip it off and match the back factory tint. Thanks guys
i had mine done to match the rears and i am prety sure they put on 20% however the factory tint has a brown/bronze tone to it and the after market tint i got has the grey/blue tone to it. so far i am the only one who as ever noticed it
I hear that the rear is tinted to 35%. Somebody told me they put 3M tint on and was an almost exact match to the factory. Be careful when putting on front tint as the driver's and passenger's windows are "privacy glass" and are dipped for a slight tint. this will only multiply the effect of whatever you put on there!
I'll take a pic of my truck. Perhaps the newer trucks use a dif color tint cuz mine have no brown shading. Gray-ish black. The installer here has been doing only window tinting since 1986. He used a meter to tell the shading and matched it at 15% on my 2005. Other years may be different.

It is tough to do because there are so many variations on tint. It's not just about percentage. The tint may look black, until you see it next to real black or smoked tint then it will have a bronze color. Most all cars have a small amount of tint to them. Some are a greenish/blue some are brown (imports), some are smoked. The company I have do my tint, has a wall full of different hue's of tint at all different transparency levels. Just take a good shop to get it right, or really close.
I have noticed this before in my F-150 btw. The backs looked dark grey, until I had them tinted as such. Then the color difference was obvious.
I believe the tint on the privacy glass is about 20%. I did the 3M tint (Best tint out IMHO) you can hit it with windex or whatever. It is on for the long haul. It also just matches well.
I have used it on several vehicles including Ford Trucks
not sure about other states....but in Arizona, the darkest legal percentage tint you may have on driver or passenger side/front windows is 35%. For years they never enforced this, I know because I always ran 5% which is considered "limo" tint. IMPOSSIBLE to see thru. In AZ you can have whatever percent you like on the rear window, or the rear side windows, but not the front/side windows. Maximum of 35% up front. Matching tint is really really hard, if you are a perfectionist......remove it all and have it all replaced at the same time.

In NY you can't legally tint the fronts at all. Factory only.

Well here in the great state of New Jersey where you need a permit to take a dump you can't have any tint on the driver or passenger windows just like new york. So although it's an invite for me to get pulled over add it to the list, cause if i pay sales tax on the purchase of my truck and their stupid state inspection fee's (prior to tint). I think the blueish crap is comin off cause it doesn't match and it looks dumb plus i might do the top of the winshield although it'll cover up the factory super duty sticker it will be worth it.

Not True.
According to New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law Section 375 (12-a) (c) the windshield (except for the top 6 inches) and the front side windows must have a light transmission of 70%. That allows for a 30% tint.
i dont think thats what it means because a 30% tint is pretty dark and wont let in 70% light. I think a 70% tint lets in 70% light. i hope your right though because CA tint rules are pretty similar.
