Anyone looking for a 1995 4.9L?

Check out my ad in the classified section if you are interested. Nothing wrong with it, I just finished my swap to a 351w. Complete motor, exhaust manifold to air filter box, oil pan to intake. 65,000 miles.

I posted my results for this swap in the 1987-1996 trucks and vans forum. I wrote a complete list of what I needed and what I had to do to get it swapped. My total cost was around $1800. $750 for the motor (with radiator/wiring harness) and around $1150 for all of the other parts. Mine was probably a little more because I had to buy a flywheel, clutch/pressure plate, pilot bearing and slave cylinder. My F150 is a 5-speed. Just plan ahead and take your time. It can be done!! Feel free to ask me any questions. I would be glad to clear anything up for you.

Complete EFI 351w with wiring harness.
Computer to match motor and tranny application (302 will not work with 351 and automatic will not work with a manual)
Motor mounts for a 351w
radiator for a V8 (302 or 351)
Air intake hoses (V8 hoses are longer/larger than the six)
Front accessories (A/C, Power Steering, Alternator)
Brackets for accessories (yes the 351w and the 302 are the same brackets...at least for the 1995 application)
Flywheel for 1995 351w (DO NOT USE THE FLYWHEEL FROM A SIX CYLINDER)
Clutch/Pressure Plate for 351w
Slave Cylinder
Pilot Bearing
Rear Main Seal
Oil Pan Gasket
Intake gasket
Headers (with new bolts and gaskets)
frame mounts from a V8 application (Ford part numbers: EOTZ 6028 D and EOTZ 6029 D)
radiator hoses
power steering pressure hose
tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter)
Y-pipe
2 1/2" ID to 3" ID exhaust adapter

you listed these things as things you changed on your truck you also said you problay forgot some so i was wondering if this is the full list of stuff you change or is there more and if so what is it?

thanks

Not sure, I have never dynoed it. It has an electric fan, headers, one catalytic converter (as opposed to two in the stock setup),a cam, k&n filter charger (thanks to 89XLTBronco-see aftermarket forum), and a set of pulleys. I think a stock 1995 351w is 255hp so I would guess, around 300hp. It will smoke my BFGoodrich 33's through 2nd and leaves some of the riceboys wondering what just happened at the last stoplight

By the way. I sold the six a while back. Sold the whole thing for $650. The guy got a good deal. Everything; complete motor (untouched as it came out of the truck), flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, computer, air box, everything. He had serious blowby in his old motor...it was pumping oil out of the airbox. Not pretty.

Gas mileage right now is between 18-20 mpg.

I am not sure what you will get for that motor. Mine only had 65,000 miles on it. One junkyard was trying to sell me a complete 302 with 156,000 on it for $850. I would think that you could get $350-$500 for it. It all depends on what part of the country you live in.

I am not sure either, but I am not complaining. I fill up both tanks once every two weeks. I drive 30 one way to work, and 30 miles back every day, so that is 300 miles a week. I think that both tanks hold around a total of 32 gallons of gas. So 600 miles divided by 32 gallons equals 18.75 mpg.

You can check my gallery, the truck does have 33s on it and a fuel injected 351. The biggest increase in gas mileage and power was installing an electric fan. With the stock mechanical fan I was getting around 12-14 mpg, put in the electric fan and gas mileage went up to around 18-19 mpg.
