ok, i've always been a chevy guy because my dad is a chevy guy and so on, i bought my 89 f-150 from my cousin for 1000 bucks, the tranny was slippin but it was because he pulled a big lake boat from South Carolina to Texas in overdrive. i put a new tranny in it and if you take a look at my gallery you can see i've done quite a bit of extra work to the truck, my question is though, how tough is the 302? i blew a water hose lastnight coming home from church, it ran a little warm but not very alrming. this morning on the way to school it started running very warm(i was thinking it'd be somethin like a head gasket with my luck) so i get to school and pop the hood to find water gusing out, i look at it and then i wonder how many miles i drove it with out water, it never got over the word normal on the gauge, but i'mm gonna fill it up with water when i leave school in about 5 mins, then i'm gonna go to town to get another hose. i jsut hope it'll make it, i don't really doubt it because the truck has never left me stranded, even when the tranny went, i still had 2nd gear, had to drive it 40miles to the tranny shop and it did it. well i've rambled enough.
well i got it fixed, ford dealer didn't have the right hose and neither did NAPA so i took the Napa hose and a heater hose off of an 82 datsun 280zx, made a hose splice out of the old heater core out of my truck(the part where the hose slips over it) 4 hose clamps and a lil cuttin later, it's all fixed doesn't leak and the gauge won't go over the R in normal.
i wasn't really worried about it being hurt, it never got out of the word normal so i was just kinda amazed that it ran that cool with a leak that big, i opend the hood and it shot water out about 8-10feet away from the truck. and my radiator leaked where the drain is, but i drove it down the road for a couple miles and then when i got back it wasn't leakin anymore.
