No response when I posted this in the chips section so here goes in the PSD section:
I have a 1995 PSD 5-spd crew cab dually and I'm looking to purchase a programmer for it.
Ive checked out the big name programmers
Hypertech
Edge
Bully Dog
Superchip
etc.
and they are nice but a bit pricey for me. then while browsing ebay, i see several generic programmers without all the bells and whistles and for a fraction of the cost.
I'm basically looking for a horsepower increase and nothing more(dont care about recalibrating shift points and speedo, etc.) but dont want to spend too much money. so my question is... which one is the best for the $$$$? Does anybody have input (good or bad) about the generic programmers? do they perform as advertised?
Search these forums for a "10k mod" thats all that ebay one is and it wont cost you more than $20. If you dont want to spent money for a chip I dont want you to buy that ebay crap lol. This cheap mod will give your truck a little more pick me up. I would recomend an egt gauge when modifying for more fuel though.
of course i always whistle the superchip tune. i love my 2. i can get them here for $369. u also need a downpipe first $125 with pyro bung here. watch out for the cheap junk. it can mess you up. many people like TW, and dp. i honestly must say IDK about them. but i can testify for superchips.
Heck, I have a superchip programmer that I will sell you. Well actually my neighbor has it. He sold his truck and kept the programmer. Here is a pic of it.

look out- PMS is trying to strike. ENJOY THE RIDE
got a round down pipe from a later model PSD that I can work to fit my truck. If i had the 369 to spend on a brand name programmer then i would buy one, no doubt about it but i dont, so I'm interested to know if the generic ones are worth a damn. will be picking up an EGT gauge soon too.

Accepting offers, was thinking about 150 or so, thats half price right?
thats about the going rate on ebay for a used unit. It is PN 7105 correct? I'm really weighing the different programmers and am kinda torn on the issue right now. I'll try to get back to you before you post it for auction, but i am interested.
i'm really wanting a chip to but i either want a dp or a wildman chip i can afford one now but i also want some injectors soon and it will be a few months before those does anyone know if dp or wildman can reburn chips and how much it cost
