which programmer to buy???

got a bigger down pipe (and the entire exhaust system) from a late model PSD that I will modify to work on my truck. Pyrometer will be installed as soon as my friend gets his new gauge and i get his old one. got a 6637 installed so the only thing i need to get is the programmer. I was just curious exactly how much does the 10k, 14.6 and 22k mod net for my truck. Has anybody ever dyno'd their rig after the mod? are the big name programmers nothing more than a selector of different resistor circuits?
