The whole scenario changed when the SBC Chevy was introduced in 1955. Here was a drop in engine, that didn't require the frames or firewalls to be modified. The exhaust could be routed inside the frame rails, something hard to do with other OHV's of the era. It wasn't long before all matter of speed equipment was offered. Even tho the Ford 221/260 engines were introduced in 1962, they never caught on with rodders, and Ford has been playing catch-up ever since.

71 camper special has no resale value
what resale value.in my area kingman/chloride arizona.old ford camper specials like other old ford trucks have very little vaue.maybe 500.00 if a person is very lucky.ive had this truck for 15 years and and dont like computer vehicles.if that makes me very old school.great.i have a 96 ranger that runs good.
but if any
computerized parts go bad to the junk yard it goes and i will it gets chrushed so no one gets the problems.
old trucks of any make are better than the new ones.points and carbs forever.

I had my son look at the bus it shift pattern is r n d 3 2 1 so was a 4 sp not 6 sp shifter is mounted up on dash. If you think it is something you can adapt and your not in a hurry I wouldn't mind pulling it the next time I come home your welcome to it I get through kingman once in a while. It is a later model than yours had a 3208 cat.

olds conversion
i wore out the 360-c6 pulling all my stuff.the retarder in the allison is a transmission brake .also try finding 360-390 parts in some small town when you break down.good luck.
when the conversion is done .i will try to find someone who wants all the extra 360-390 parts .2 390s-1 360.1 fe c6 trans.i wont need the parts.

Allisons (Ford called them Transmatics) were optional beginning in 1961 on B/C/F/L/LN/LNT/LT/N/NT/T and W Series Trucks 700 series and larger.
The engines used besides diesels were FT 361 & 391's / 401/475/477 and 534's.
No FE engines (352/360/390) and 330 FT engines ever used an Allison transmission.
