Programers??? DP or Superchip...???
I have a 2001 Excursion Limited with a 7.3...I want to improve it alittle bit without going overboard..MPG..a little more power. Looks like a Programmer is the way to go but not sure which one. The local Diesel shop says put a superchip programmer on there easy and cheap..400$..How much is a DP and kind of gains in milage are you guys getting. Thanks...

The best tuner/chip for our 7.3's is made by the folks at DP-Tuner. Call them and talk to Jody or Dianne and tell them what you are looking for. It's not off the shelf programming it's custom tuning for less than you will pay for the super-chip.

I got 5 tunes Stock, 1200 hi idle, 60tow, 80tow ,80econo, 120race for 458 shipped to my house from DP. well really 6 tunes. the stock tune Jody uses is a modified PMT-1 towing tune from FOMOCO. My understanding is this was the best all around factory program that ford used for our trucks, and Jody actually massages it a little, so stock is really not stock. My truck being a 99.5 that has never been reflashed by the dealer, the stock program that jody provides is much better than the stock program my truck came with. I know this sounds like a load of bull but its true, its all in the shift points and the slightly adjusted injector timing and fueling.
I promise you, If you call Jody at DP and order a DP you will be much happier than with the Superchips. I ran a Bully Dog programmer for 3+ years and the difference in the 80 eco DP tune and the 75 hp Bully Dog is night and day difference. More manners, more power, more fun.
Don't make a $400 mistake call jody and get the DP. You will not regret it.
Oh BTW I just got the DP last week, so that is a pretty current price.

Dp is the only way to go, way better than superchips, if your looking for MPG I would avoid Superchips. Superchips will give you better performance than stock but the same or worse MPG. Dp is cheaper and 10x better.

ran bully dog chip as well, switched to the DP Tuner. Never been happier. Oh and BTW, thanks guys for talking me into the DP Tuner. Been on for a month, need new tires, But still happier than santa at the playboy mansion!

I can tell you that you will save 400.00 by buying the DP now instead of after you run the superchip for a few weeks.
BTW my superchip is holding down my paperwork in my shop now.

99sevenpoint3, thought my superchip burnt out too the other day and come to find out it was fuse #12 burnt out, replaced and its working again...RATS... i was excited for thinking my day was comming sooner than i thought to get a DP...lol
