Sorry to cross-post
I ripped the transmission cooler lines out and burned up my tranny driving.
It's a Fordomatic 2 speed...it runs in low and reverses fine, but it won't shift into high gear. It only slips.
I got another transmission...a used one...for $250. I had to swap the front pump to fit the newer-model torque converter.
I've changed out the transmissions, but it still does the same old thing...is it the front pump that's doing this....or is this a common problem for Fordomatics?
I need to get it running. What's the quickest and easiest solution to my problem? Please, help.
Is the C-4 an easy swap? What do I need to make this happen?
Sounds like the piston seals for the High gear clutch is leaking and not letting the clutch engage. IMHO that tranny is an expensive piece of doo doo. C4 is an easy swap and a better choice.

What do I need for a c-4 swap? Can I use the same torque converter? What year should it be from?

First C4 = 1964, First Fairlane with a C4 = 1964. But, all the 1965/66 Mustangs 200's use a C4, and there's no shortage of 65/66 Mustangs. You'll prolly have to change the driveshaft.
Question? Are you certain your 1963 Fairlane has a 200 engine? It could be a 170.
5th digit in the VIN is the engine code: U=170 / T=200.
Mustangs made between 4/64 thru 8/23/1964 came with either a 170 or a 200 engine, and will a 170/C4 combination. After that date, all Mustang 6's are 200's.
