Just got my 2007 Sport Trac this past summer. My third Explorer (1991, 1997 before this one). I've got a little problem...nothing I'm losing sleep over but could use some help here. I like to keep my windows clean like everyone I'm sure but I notice after I clean them, the first time I put them down (especially the front ones) I've got a smear of some sort that runs up the rear portion of the window. I guess this is some kind of lubricant for the window tracks or something like that. Tried to clean the bottom part of the door where the window comes up but still having the same problem. Spoke to the dealer and they pretty much said..tough luck all of them do this. I've never had this problem before and am looking for some suggestions. Thanks in advance.
I have the same problem. What I have done to ease the problem, i soak the window in window cleaner and run the window up and down a few times and that seems to keep the problem away for a few weeks, but then it comes back.
since your car is new and the window runs up and down a ruber guided track its just the oil from the "dew wips" (bottom of the window), as the car gets older the oil gets rubbed off from the dew wipes and you get rid of it when yo clean the windows, it will eventually go away
My '06 did the same thing new on both front windows. I mentioned it to my dealer at my first oil change and got the same response. I just got into the habit of whenever I washed the rig of wiping the windows down with a good glass cleaner. But after 18 months now, there is very little smearing between washings.
