1999 f350 and bully dog tuner
I have a (99) f350 7.3 power stroke dsl, actual build date is 6/98. the problem is i bought a Bully Dog Power pup tuner (41573), the documents that came with it says it is for 94 to 03 7.3 engines.
However, when checking the tech section of bully dog their revised document says that this unit is only good for 99.5 to 03. it does connect and load all of the preformance settings, but now at the stock setting it has a cold running issue that keeps it below 1500 rpm until fully warm.
does anyone have any insight to this, Bully Dog seems to be to busy to answer the Tech phone or emails.
thanks in advance.

OK, actually got through to Bully Dog and was told this is normal. If you didn't have this condition before, then it doesn't sound too normal to me.
I did talk to the boss about this and he has heard this before and says it is likely related to the exhaust backpressure sensor. There is a way to eliminate the sensor (easy install) and it doesn't cost much--$39.

did they give you any clue as to why the user book with the unit says "for 94 - 03 ford 7.3" but the bully dog tech section says "this unit is for 99.5 - 03 only".
Maybe this so called normal condition is a problem with their unit on the 94- 99.5?
what is the $39 easy install sensor eliminator?
maybe it is time to go to dealer to reflash to stock, i called them and they said they would do it free, just have to wait til friday or monday.
thanks

Their response on the different models noted was "we'll check into that".
If your dealer will flash it back to stock, I'd suggest trying that first, especially if he won't charge you.
The Exhaust Backpressure Sensor Eliminator is the part I'm referring to. It takes the place of that sensor and am told it has helped many 7.3L owners with the condition you described.

Great. Good luck with the re-flash. I hope that fixes it. If not, here's a link to the part on our site:
