I believe I have a bad Headgasket. And hopefully not a bad head or block. The miss has gotten has gotten from barely noticable and clears up, to noticeable. Here are the symptoms
Missing a little
Puff of white smoke upon startup (sweet smelling)
Leaking antifreeze near end of engine
Had to refill antifreeze recently >1 gallon
Low power
I have since garaged it and going to determine what to do.
Any good suggestions on headgasket replacement on a 99 Superduty (Late) I worry about the heatbox proximity to the passenger side head(I know it was tough when I did glow plugs earlier this year). Should I just get a gasket set off ebay? Do I have to replace injector orings (cheapest I found was 10 bucks a pop). Any other things to do while I'm in there
Bummer man. Can't speak from personal experience but you'd probably want to go with OEM head gaskets. If you're thinking of building the engine in the future for big power, thicker head gaskets and ARP head studs.
If you have a lift it's easier to pull the body and do it on the truck.
Or you could pull the front off, radiator and all, then have enough room to get in there.
Those heads are heavy enough to require a cherry picker to lift in and out without straining your back.
If you're not to into fabbing, there are cylinder head removal tools/hooks on ebay for under $10. Kwik is right about the heads. It take two people to remove if you don't have a cherry picker.

You sure it's not just an injector o-ring?
would cause the slight missing, white smoke, low power, and lost antifreeze.. not sure about the leaking antifreeze though....
I'll check the o-rings as i remove the injectors. I do have an external loss of antifreeze coming from the passenger side of the motor. Heater lines all look good.

They are known for cracking the block around the middle freeze plug behind the starter.
I would check for a crack in the block first as Dan said. I have seen three that have cracked so far.
Are you the one that helped Cookie pull those engines last year? Or did he help you?
I've seen the crack myself on an old IDI that the owner brought by for me to look at. Pour water in the radiator and watch it run right out on the ground. Just bought the truck and was really taken.
Yeah Scott and I started out helping our chapter leader pulling out those two PSD's out in about 12 hrs. Then we had to do Scott's because of a cracked block and just recently I found a 2000 F250 with 215,000 miles on it for my uncle but the engine only has 49,000 because it had a cracked block.
