I have a '74 F100 with a 390 V8 that has run before, and it ran good. Now it will not fire. Sometimes it will, but it will die while ideling. It is getting pleanty of fuel, you can smell it flooding, but it wont crank. I have replaced the Distrubitor cap, rotor, and the wires. What could it be?
take a plug out and then stick the wire on it and ground the threads to metal. jump the solenoid and you should see a spark. if you do then at least you know you are getting spark. the only other thing it could be is either the timing of the spark or too much fuel.

So the topic of the thread is actually " engine won't crank"?
Please put the actual topic in the title of threads
Always have a freshly fully charged battery before testing.
Check the battery,cables,starter solenoid,and starter.
Use the jumper wire to bypass IGN switch.
If it still won't crank.. try another good battery
Your replaced ignition parts have nothing to do with the engine cranking.
I think he meant it won't fire up. I try to use turn over or spin up instead of crank. Crank could mean crank up (as in start up and run) or it could mean crank over (as in turn over)
