I have an 04. I don't know if it's in the same place as on 03. On the 04, it is behind the removable panel below the steering wheel, at the bottom attached to the panel support.

I really don't know. Mine has not failed, but I've only had the truck for a month or two. Are you having a problem that makes you think it's failed?

I have an intermittent surge. I went to ford and they suggested an icp and connector, I replaced those with no results. My egr has been unplugged for a while so I've ruled that out. I've also replaced the ipr, like ford suggested. This things out of warranty so all of this comes out of my pocket. I don't know what my next move should be, any suggestions?

What about the exhaust sensor (backpressure)? Do you know if your truck has the most current flash? I believe the most current flash disables this sensor.

I had it flashed about 2 months ago, I don't know if its the latest. Over the last year I've replaced the maf, map, oil temp, and ebp. I've checked the placed that on the harnesses that are subject to chafing and found one chafe, fixed the chafe but not the problem. It shows no codes and ford doesn't know what else it could be. I'm scared to drop it off and say "just fix it", because it has no warranty and the hourly rate gets expensive quick.

Wow you have replaced lots of stuff. My truck surges and/ or stalls only once a month. Ford replaced the turbo but of course that didn't help. I actually lost 3lbs of boost w/ that. I know its an electronic deal some where but nobody can find it. Have you tried the black box from Ford yet ?

I haven't tried the black box yet, ford has hooked their computer to it while it was surging and the two guys just stared at it with a WTF look on their face. They don't have any answers and are out of suggestions.

It surges more often than not. It will do it hot or cold, and alot of times it doesn't want to return to idle when I'm stopping it wants to hang around 1000 rpm for a few seconds. no tuner

Quick miss? Like a hesitation? Or injector not firing?
