I have an intermittent surge. I went to ford and they suggested an icp and connector, I replaced those with no results. My egr has been unplugged for a while so I've ruled that out. I've also replaced the ipr, like ford suggested. This things out of warranty so all of this comes out of my pocket. I don't know what my next move should be, any suggestions?
do you have a flash tuner?? My truck does the same exact thing you are refering to, you most likely do not have a concern w/ a sensor or the tech that diagnosed this concern would have reported a DTC, did they guess at the ICP and IPR?? so they know it has a HPO/ICP surge. I know what is wrong w/ it-please expain exactly what is does in detail so I can be certain. If you have a Boost guage does it fluctuate when you stomp on the throttle but not too bad down lower in the RPM range??
Hey fellas can someone point me in the right direction? It's an 03
Barometric Pressure Sensor
THIS IS FOR A 6.0L ........
The Barometric Pressure (BARO) sensor is a variable capacitor sensor that processes a signal indicating atmospheric pressure. This allows the PCM to compensate for altitude. The PCM uses this information to calculate injection timing and glow plug control. The BARO sensor is located behind the lower steering column opening finish panel.
A BARO sensor fault will result in an out-of-range signal to the PCM
FOR A 7.3L here ya go:
Barometric Pressure Sensor
The Barometric Pressure (BARO) sensor is a variable capacitor sensor that processes a signal indicating atmospheric pressure. This allows the PCM to compensate for altitude. The PCM uses this information to calculate injection timing and glow plug control. The BARO sensor is not a stand-alone component. It is contained in the PCM.
A BARO sensor fault will result in an out-of-range signal to the PCM. The PCM will assume a default value of 100 kPa (14.5 psi)
18vtx00, when I start it it will rev to 1000-1200 rpm for a second then come back down to idle, it does not always do this, but when it does it will have a rolling idle then a jump in rpm with no particular pattern. Also when it is in this state it doesn't want to return to idle when stopping, it wants to stay at around 1000 rpm when it should be idling. No fluctuation in boost when I stomp it, it boosts to 26 lbs. No tuner

so this is completely different that the missing I read earlier in the post and is not what I thought it was. Do you have any DTC's?? What year is yor truck?? Did you buy it new?? So it will still Rev up even whn the brake is applied?? If so do your brake lamps work??

hey do you still ahev your stock IPR?? if so I will buy the new one from you if you feel like swapping it back out, see when I read that a dealer told you you had a surge and to replace the ICP,connector and IPR this is all the HPO systems input and outputs and will cause an HPO surge, this is not your concern at all it sounds like. did they have any DTC's or just told you to put them in??

I would rather eat the cost of the ipr than have to change it again. I don't have an ipr socket and ended up pulling the intake so that I could get a wrench on it. I was told that an icp or ipr doesn't have to throw a code to be bad.
