You might want to call you local salvage yards too. It may take awhile to locate an entire tailgate, but they are out there.
Start locally first, then work your way out.

If you r in rust belt. You will have no trouble getting a after market one ($255+-) . Any wreckers should have one.Or check body shops they use after parts .
OEM ones hard to find . Wreckers r a no go mostly for oem parts . But you may have a southern/western part dealler with in driving distance. start checking around. But hey you may live down south. Look for ones sitting if do . I get my parts in South Carolina one in while .
Check r classifieds Up top for 87-97 trucks, them look clear at bottom as the is a bronco clasifieds there. An was 1 on there while back
I have seen 2 factory gates in good shape sale local PA for $400-550 a pc used. They had glass of course
