I have a 1979 f150 2wd with a 300 6cyl and a clark 4 spd overdrive
The clutch is going fast and the olny place i have to work is out in the boonies so multiple parts runs are going to be difficult. I know the engine is not original to the truck but i don't know if its a 79 engine or not.
I see clutches listed for for 73-77 and 78-79. whats the differeces between them? and will it matter if the engine is a 77 or a 79?
i'd like to put a flywheel in it too.
any help would be great, I'm new to this ford stuff.
Did you ever get your new clutch in? I've got an 88 and the clutch is doing OK but the throw out bearing is chattering like crazy. So I'll be tackling that job. Those transmissions are heavy, I'm trying to find a jack for it (I can't see myself trying to balance it on a floor jack with it wobbling around!) Also some of the models had a slave cylinder in the trans housing for the clutch that can be diffcult to bleed. I also plan to get my flywheel resurfaced, that's a must. How 's your's?
If you do not know all the info, I would pull out the flywheel,clutch,pressureplate and get the part numbers off them and go from there. I just replaced my flywheel,clutch,pressureplate and bearing in my 300. They all had part numbers, I got my clutch kit from Rhino. Also, if you want to replace the flywheel you should replace the pressureplate too.
