On a few ocassions I have seen on FE's small plugs on the externals of the exhuast ports what appear to be or used to be smogpump injection ports but only on one head is this a late model head matched with an early model, if so why, and is there an internal difference?

Just curious cause i have this.
The plugs: C6AZ-6052-A ~ Still available from Ford. 8 are required. The smog pump manifolds have a nut and ferrule that screws into the heads. Remove them, install the plugs.
Ford F Series smog pumps used: 1966/67; 1973/76..but not nationwide, or on some F350's. Ford called the smog pump emissions BS: T/E = Thermactor Emission.
F Series cylinder heads: Right/left are the same. 1965/72 interchange (some 66/67 heads are drilled for the smog manifolds). 1968/72 360/390 heads are the same (C8AZ-6049-M). The 68/72 heads are not drilled for the smog crappola. The difference between the T/E and non T/E heads besides the drilled and tapped holes, are the air passages for the T/E system. Valves, etc are identical.
Except HiPo's, some Mustang and Torino GT's, Shelby's and P/C's (police cruisers), FoMoCo passenger car cylinder heads 1965/71 352/390/410/428 are the same ones the trucks used (C8AZ-6049-M).
1973/76 heads are not the same part number as previous heads. One head (updated 1975 p/n: D5TZ-6049-H) was used for 73/76, but because of the emissions standards in certain states, all will have the holes for the smog pump crappola.
