Engine, RPM bounce / surge

I have an 02 - 5.4<o></o>
Occasionally I will get a brief engine rev, or rpm surge/bounce when stopped at light. It only happens when I first start out (cold) and it only happens for about 15-20 seconds. Its not a slipping trans, cause I have to stand extra hard on brake to keep truck still…any ideas<o></o>

Sounds like you have a sticking IAC valve. (Idle Air Control). Sometimes it can be removed and cleaned and work ok, sometimes it just needs to be replaced.

Does the fact that I have no CEL codes seem strange with this idle problem? Esspecially if its a sticking (carboned up) IAC?
I will try and clean it this weekend, giving that a try first.

Nope, CEL won't come one...My truck did that once (coupled with low idle while at a stop ~450-500RPM), and I replaced the IAC, but it never helped my low idle issues. Bought a PCV valve, but it was the wrong one. Funny thing is, my truck seems to have cured itself 
If it acts up again, I'll get the correct PCV valve and replace it.
