This will probably be another one of those stupid questions, but hey I do mostly custom work :P...
after getting the tranny apart and removing the converter, and draining it.
I picked it up and heard it "clonk" inside, so I shook in and it feels like its loose inside, do I have a problem or is it supposed to do that?

there is some play in them, yes. There is bearing or washers depending on how quality it is. If the converter has imprints of the flex plate bolt heads on the front cover - toss the converter. It is ballooned. Ballooned converters show signs of inefficency and have slop in them like you say. ALso, if the PAINT is flaking off, it has gotten too hot and should be replaced as well.
it shouldnt do that, maybe one of the blades has fallen apart inside, i would get a new one, the new ones help you get more power off the line too, im no expert
Torque converter rattle or noise is usually caused by ballooned converters and the turbine begins to fall apart. Furnace brazing before converter assembly is the only way to prevent this.
Bottom line, better to get AT LEAST a reman converter for cheap than use yours.
I made a simple test to check it and put and air hose inside and sealed it off, there was a hair line crack in it, which explained my tranny fluid leak which I mentioned earlier, and yea one of the fans was broken off, sucks too cause a new one just cost my $265 :/, thanks for the help though
I do not have enough info, How ever the stator will make a clonk kind of noise.
