Two Cycle Oil for Lubrication??

I was talking to a hotshot driver while standing around the old diesel pump. When I added my fuel additive he said he uses a little two-cycle oil now and then for fuel lubricity. I've never thought of that but it sounds plausible.

Comments? Suggestions? Pros and Cons?

There is a thread going on about this over on the diesel garage about the same thing. Long and short of it seems to be no harm and most likely good. I've run it for about 4 tank fulls at 1oz per gal and other than quieter idling have not noticed a real change. My mileage is the same as it was running Power Service. No increased smoke either.

This is just my .02. I wouldn't suggest running 2-stroke that has red dye in it. If for whatever reason you do get stopped and they pull a sample from your tank they could get you for running farmers diesel.

I would be curious if running 2-stroke would be an alright alternative. I happen to have a bunch of the stuff, and really dont want to waste it.

This topic has been threaded to death and the consensus of the experts is that the 6.0 injectors are not designed for this mixture and it will cause long term damage. I would rather be safe than broke having to pay for injectors out of my pocket. If Ford did a fuel analysis and found that mixture you could kiss your warranty bye-bye.

No and I wouldn't run any kind of motor oil or 2 cycle in a diesel engine with all the emmissions BS that they have now days .

It may have worked for the old timers but todays diesels are a differnt story..

I agree. No 2-cycle oil and no transmission fluid in the fuel.
