Post 7700

I am a newbie to this site. Glad I found it. QNESTION--- Is anyone running the F-150 with the 7700 towing package? I have a 2000 SC with the 7700 package. I have had no trouble with the truck. I am pulling an 8000lb trailer CARGO MATE trailer that is 8.5' wide and 7.5ft high and 22ft long. I haven't seen the 7700 mentioned at all on the site. Anyone out there????

I have a 2002 F150 S/C with a 7700 payload package, group "B". There is quite a difference between the regular F150 and the 7700 F150. ie. 7 bolt wheels, larger brakes, trani cooler, heavier suspension. The 7700 package effectively makes this a 3/4 ton truck. There is also a difference between the Group A & the Group B packages. Group B comes with a 4.10 rear end and a slightly larger transmission cooler and has a combined vehicle rating of 15,000 lbs. where group A has a 3.73 rear end and a combined vehicle rating of 13,500. I tow a 26' 7,000 lb. fifth wheel with this setup and it tows great. It also stops well as long as the brake controller is properly adjusted. I'm not sure however how it would pull a trailer vs. a fifth wheel setup. I would probably advise against pulling that heavy a trailer if it is not in a fifth wheel configuration.

Mine is very similiar, just labeled as the F250 instead of the F150. I have had no problems pulling trailers. Most of what I have pulled is your standard double axle car trailer. No problem. The heavier trailers 7000 lbs + I can tell a difference as the truck is working harder.

I did not like the stopping ability of mine and upgraded the rotors. That was worthwhile IMHO.

It also has the 3.31 gears and now with over 60,000 is doing just fine.

I had a 2000 7700 XLT supercab and was very happy with it. Towed a 6,000 lb. trailer on a daily basis with no problem. I did have electric brakes on the trailer. Traded it in with 42,000 miles on it for a 2002 F-350. The 7700 was a great truck.
