How is a F250LD or F150 7700 different
I have been looking at the light duty 250 in the '99 trucks and the later 150's with the 7700GVW package. Beside the obvious 7 lug wheels, what else is different. Does anyone think that since these were produced only a couple of years, there will be parts availability issues with the unique suspension and brake parts. How big of a job is it to swap the items over onto a normal 150. Thanks.

We have a 1997 F-250LD and every part we get for it it is wrong. For some reason we always get a "Super Duty" part. We have to convince every parts store person that a F-250LD or F-150 7700 actually exists. BUT, on the other hand, you would not believe how many people don't know these trucks exist. People come up all the time and ask why we have 7-lug wheels. I personally love the uniqueness(?) of these trucks. I want a F-150 7700 myself. The parts are out there, just be prepared to chase them down.

I haven't had a problem getting parts anywhere, I tell them it is a light duty 250 and they ask me under 8500 GVW or over? and I say under and get my parts. Differences, rear springs, bigger rear end, disc brakes (on my 97), bigger tortion bars, also I hade been told the frame is stronger, but I don't know how.

It is entertaining when people ask me how I like my 1/2 ton.
The seven lug wheels are the clue that she's not really a 1/2 ton. The trucks are also often called a 5/8's. Not quite a true 3/4 but more than a 1/2. The frames are little thicker and you do you have to watch the parts people but most are smart enough to realize it's not a Super Duty.

The 7700 package also has a different automatic transmission. It is the same one as the big brother F250 Superduty. I have a 2001 F150 7700 package which I purchased from the Federal Government. It is a great truck and can haul and out tow a standard F150, as I have owned two other standard F150's before this truck.
