Here in WA (especially on I-5) you have local sheriff, police, State patrol using marked and unmarked cars (with WSP plates) - and they do whatever they want. While I have never seen them hide their cars, there are places where they can park next to the freeway and use the gun. They also use overpasses and sometimes have 3 car groups 1 to scan and 2 to pull over - and they can have 2 or 3 of these groups in a few mile stretch of freeway. Some days I have seen as many as 5 or 6 cars get pulled over in a few minute period. Then again, the people were speeding or driving erratically. I don't speed so I haven't had a problem with these wolfpacks.

I have been pulled over one time locally, but it was totally my fault (22 over). Deputy was a jerk but reduced the cost of the ticket by half so...

Once upon a time, I was late for an appointment and was driving 30 mph over the limit to try to make up the time. I was not a kid.

A cop parked on the "backside" of an intersection caught me on radar and proceeded to chase. I sped up some more and tried to make it to the next exit a mile away to elude him. He caught me in 1/2 mile and gave me the ticket. He was polite and so was I.

A lawyer that I knew told me it would be best to plead "not guilty" and plead my case with the judge.

I was guilty as charged. I paid the fine.

Was the lawyer being dishonest? Maybe not in the legal sector, but I didn't challenge a charge that I KNEW was right.

I went on with my life.

You may want to consider this one of life's lessons.

In my provine Minimum fine for anything is $168. Well I'm just going to pay the ticket now that I realize he has only charged me with what I admitted to. Which I am fine with, what I didn't want was to be dinged with a ridiculous fine for something I wasn't doing. As far as where he was I would still say its cosidered "intrapment" in my province but am not going to bother with it.

Its a small loss but looking at my fine its a victory too. A lot less then the origional idea to charge me $288.

Life goes on.

And for the record I did not intend in anyway to be bashing cops. Actually after high school that is what I intend to be.

Bob

Sorry Bob, Entrapment does not apply to people speeding ...even on a downhill slope or any other traffic infraction.

That's why those road signs say MAXIMUM speed on them.

It's all very simple: obey the traffic laws and you don't get pulled over. Seems too many people forget that and then cry about being a "victim". When you got your driver's license you entered into a contract. In exchange for the PRIVLIDGE of driving, you AGREED to obey the laws. Man up and quit whining.

If you read what I was "whining" about you would find out that I admitted to speeding by 5-10km BUT was told I was speeding by 25-30km. That my friend is BS, and that is worth complaining about.

Just out of curiousity man, what province are you from?

When i was younger we had a ton of problems with the rcmp in this one small town. While we were no angels, and we did admit when we did something wrong, they were always pulling us over. Lots of times for no reason at all, just to ask us what we were doing, in a non friendly way!

over here in the UK theres no point in speeding coz your gonna get caught,we have fixed cameras everywhere they take a picture of your vehicle speeding and automatically send a fixed penalty of three points on license and fine to the registered owner of the vehicle, usually there is no defence as its photo evidence and no police are required, its a fully automated system!
