I wish I would of had my camera when I pulled a 40' gooseneck with 2 35' goosenecks, 4 22' carhaulers, and 3 14' landscape trailers on it. I was as high as a semi and it weighed about 20k. Next time I'll get a pic.
I pulled my 43' trailer home from NV with a bunch of batch plant parts on it. Got home and wieghed the whole thing (didnt really want to know before i made it home!) came in just over 39k.
And then there was the need to move the office trailer!
Umm! Let's see. Roughly 32,400lb trailer +/- @ 10% as a rule for hitch weight, that's 3,240 hitch you had to be on the frame!
I have pulled 16-17k of hay (not counting the trailer) several times with mine. I've also pulled some air conditioning units for work that weighed about 15k not counting the trailer. I don't even blink at anything less than 13k. My 4 horse Living Quarters horse trailer weighs 11,500 empty (add 4 horses at 1k each and all my gear and I'm sure I'm pulling 17k then too) and we pull it anywhere we want. I do plan to get some airbags soon although I don't think I've ever seen it bottom out. I will say that IMO you better have a 6 speed if you are pulling that heavy. At least you can start it and slow it better. That much weight on a 1 ton truck is not advisable for rookies cause it can get pretty hairy on hills and panic stops if you are daydreaming.
Load it up, let out on the clutch, press the go pedal till you either get where you are going or it rains parts <GRIN>
Ok the most I've pulled was about 20k lbs of hay, not counting the trailer. 300 bales at about 68 to 70 lbs each. No problem what so ever with the 6 speed! The trailer does have good brakes. I wouldn't want it any other way.
I dont know exactly what it weights but I would guess the hay at probably 900 to 1000 lbs a roll.
No idea on trailer weight, its a triple axle gooseneck. We pull several hundred rolls a year this way.
Has anyone here pulled with the DMAX? I dont care if it has the power or not, those damn thing are all over the road once you put about 12,000 behind them.
Once loaded, they remind me of "skateboard " steering, but azz backwards.
ive towed w/ a dmax, it was a newer one so it had more power than my 250, but it towed like nothing was back there. probably a 14k load. once i get my truck to 400hp mine should feel the same. its the 6 speed auto that i love. that makes towing so nice. the 2 extra gears to get the engine in the power band is awsome.
I have pulled my buddies D-4 Cat with a goose neck ONCE! The trailer didnt have any brakes, I Never got over 40 MPH, every time I saw someone wanting to pull out onto the road my butt PUCKERED BIG TIME because if they did I wouldnt have been able to stop!

I was actually worried when I let it down if it was even going to keep the hitch out of the dirt, but I had about 3" to spare!! I know it wasnt the best thing to do for my pickup, but I figured it was worth a try instead of paying a toter to come down 50 miles to move the trailer a short distance.
a guy came in to where i used to work with a grain trailer with a lil over 600 bushles of wheat (36000 lbs) behing his stock dmax. they are just bad ***
a guy i know hauled a 943 cat 28,000lbs? on a gooseneck behind his d-max and just to show up the guy that owned the cat who was a dodge fan he put the hammer down and was up to 70 in no time the truck is an 06 150hp banks chip on it

I bet he didnt have to go far! Everyone thinks the dmax is so awesome, but the two I have driven were far from spectacular. I just wasnt inpressed. I did drive a buddy of mines who has over $5k into in mods and it was fast, but pulling a mere 20k he toasted his tranny.
