Ok, this is the second time my truck was broke into. First time, I had the truck two days and didn't have any real detterent to stop them. I didn't realize that Fords were so easy to get into. Today, I had the jimmi jammers in the front doors and I think they were in faster then the first time (under 5 min). Granted all they took this time was my cell phone and charger, it pisses me off that they get in so easy! Does anybody have any better ideas of what I can do? I am going to the alarm shop on monday but I am open for ideas.
Do the new 2008 Fords have the same lock system as my 06 SD?

I would be interesred in the replies also because about a month ago my Excursion got broken into and to top things off there was a Superduty in the same parking lot and it also got broken into (owner said it was the 2nd time) they got into them the exact same way, through the damn door handles.
I'd like to put Jimmi Jammers, solid aluminum door handles instead of the POS plastic handles and a Viper alarm system. Sorry to hear that.

My truck got messed with down in Charolette NC, and I made a stainless plate for the key hole, then installed the PUTCO chrome covers (4Door on a 2 door, no key holes), and use my key fob for entrance, no problems yet.

Then your key fob and you keyless entry on the door won't work (time to drill out the keyhole in the chrome covers)There has to be a better solution for this - I thought those jimmy jammers or whatever they are were supposed to work - anybody else got a solution?

Cross that bridge when I come to it, better to deal with that than some jack-*** making off with my tools. Anybody that maintains their ride, wouldn't fall victim to the dead battery. And besides, with the last attempts, both of my locks are screwed, cheaper this way, than to give them the same avenue thay have been taking.

I would like to put door handles made of solid aluminum or something like that, the only problem I have is that I don't want a chrome finish on them, I want them the same color as the rest of the body in my case black. I wonder if you could order some and take off the chrome and paint it to match the rest of truck.

I just put rear handles on the front. No lock cylinder to pry on that way.
If the truck battery goes dead, you put a seat of jumper cables on the starter from under the truck.

What about a solution for those of us without keyless entry? I still use the keys to get in but I'm coming to realize that someone else can do the same. I never keep anything in my truck but still.....

No pictures yet, but I will try to get some. It seems they pushed a metal plate behind the handle, sideways. This allowed them to the locking mechanism I guess. They also used a large flathead screwdriver in the key hole. Do they make metal door handles? If so, any idea of the prices?

I'd prefer black [I hate anything called billet], but if they are solid metal, they may be a necessary evil for security's sake.

I'm considering doing like JKBrad did and put rear handles on the front. I prefer the black look as well and have thought about ordering the painted handles like they put on the Harley Davidson models to replace my old, faded ones.

any goood aftermarket alarm will provide keyless entry unless you dont have power locks.
ya, im a gonna put the billet rear handles on mine when i get the monies. still trying to pay off my two-fours.
the key to security is multiple layers. example: alarm,revelco,kill switch,GPS, jimmyjammers.
security was the first mods i made to my truck.

I don't see the billet handles as a viable solution. The sheet metal around the handle will flex to allow the perps to unlock the door.
