mixing actuator
2002 Ford explorer mixing actuator sound like it is skipping teeth on a gear when turned from cold to hot. Removed and the male stud is not snapped. Does this mean I need a new actuator or is there something in the plenum that could be broken?

Dont know, but we are having the same symptom, how hard was it to get to the actuator?
On my Ranger, the blend door, that the actuator turned, broke as did almost everyone elses it seems.
If this Ex has the same problem I am going to be livid.
You would think they would have redesigned this garbage by now.

My wifes 04 is doing the same thing. I have found by playing with it that if we keep the temp control from going all the way hot (out of the red zone) it doesn't make the noises and it works good that way.
