For the last several weeks I have not been driving my truck everyday. Lately it has taken a few seconds longer to fire up. Once it was running everything was fine. Well today I went out to fire it up and nothing, no crank what so ever. I really dont think its the batteries. Any ideas?
All of the electronics in the truck are working fine. But there is no, and I mean no, crank whatsoever when I try to start it. How should I check the batteries?
Put them on a trickle charger, try to get them charged all the way. Then take them to an autoparts store to get a load test (or buy a load tester yourself).
Before you try to charge the batteries be sure to clean the terminal posts and the cable ends. If they are corroded, enough current will not pass to crank it over or to it charge properly.
I didn't have to replace the ones in my 199 F250 until they were almost 10 years old.Must have been bad ones eh! lol
try turning the lights on once and then turn the key like your going to start it, dose it affect the lights by dimming them when you turn the key? im betting bad starter. take a hammer and give a couple light taps to the starter. then try starting it. it sometimes works better if you tap on it while someone trys starting it.
