Smile I got my build sheet!!!

Thank you Mooseman. I was really impressed with Ford's customer service. They kept me informed through email with the status of my request and I received the build sheet in the mail sooner than I expected... That's always nice!

It seems to me this truck came with a lot of features!!
Camper package? INsulation Package?? Supercooling package?? Handling package? Are these standard??

Not sure if that works but it's the link to the scanned build sheet.
I also posted that on ebay...Not sure if it's a good selling point to have maybe?

You're welcome, Cheryl. I received my build sheet a week or so ago. Posting all the information you have on eBay can only help you get your asking price.

Documentation is gold! Good luck with the truck. If you have any more questions, let us know.

Let us know what happens with the truck. Drop in and say, "Hi" once in awhile.

Well...since you mention it. I was curious.... if I could get some additional help. I feel bad that I've been getting soo much help from you guys and I can't like bake you cookies or anything.

We had someone on ebay ask a bunch of questions. I'm not sure if these are standard questions or if they're unusual.

Hi,
I have few questions about your truck:
1- Why it wasn't registered to DMV in 1998, hoping was not down for a major body or mechanical repair? This we found out did happen to be an oversight and not due to any damage.
2- Which year custom paint made, was it any rust check preventive compound applied and if yes, on which years done, if not, how are floor condition (visible rust on frame behind rear wheel pic)?
3- Do you have a complete file showing the service maintenance invoices or made yourself records, had any engine, turbo, powertrain, direction repair/rebuilt done?
4- For which kind of traction it was used for and what explain the low mileage history? The owner had cancer for several years and truck was limited to recreational camper pulling use.
5- Did you notice any oil leak from engine gaskets and strange noise, indication of fuel injector malfunction?
6- Is spare custom tank was safety approved and protected against internal oxydation to avoid injector problems?
7- Coming from Montreal, going to Buffalo to pick-up another truck, are you free on Nov 9 to bring it at Syracuse for a mechanical check, complete deal and return to home?
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

- qcsolo<o></o>

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Any ideas about injector malfunction??? I have no idea about any of that...or how to tell about the auxilary tank???
Thanks,
Cheryl

Regarding your questions;
#1 and #4 you've answered.

#2 Since it wasn't your truck, if you don't know, tell the 'buyer' that and he can make up his own mind. Custom paint is usually done by reputable businesses and I'm sure Centurion is a reputable business. They would have done the paint correctly.

#3 is a valid question, either the records were provided to you or they weren't. If you don't have them, then they're not available.

#7 is up to you if you want to make the trip. If buyer's interested, I'd have the buyer come to you to see the truck. In doing this, the buyer can make up his own mind and see for himself regarding #5.

Once again, this was not your truck and you are not as familiar with it. If the buyer doesn't understand that, then he's probably not that interested in it to begin with.

#6 Now he's being *********. Spare tanks (I'm guessing he's talking about the tank in the bed if I remember correctly, not the factory installed auxilliary tank). Auxilliary tanks have to meet federal specifications and requirements BEFORE they can be sold to the public. If the buyer doesn't understand THAT, then there's not much hope for him.

Provide the answers to his questions the best that you can with the information you have available. If the buyer asks a question you don't understand, have him explain it more fully. If he can't, then he probably doesn't know what he's asking for in the first place.

Good luck and keep the questions coming.

My birthday and Christmas are in the same month. If you want to send cookies, I won't turn them down.

This could be a good question. Keep in mind the "buyer" is coming out of Canada and they may have different rules. I n this part of the country you can find a lot of "home made" or shop built tank in truck beds that have never seen a safety inspection.

Are there any labels or data plates on the tank, if so provide that to the buyer and let him research it.

I think some of the trouble was that he was coming from Canada. He wanted to research any of the recalls and make sure they were all completed before he picked the truck up. It's possible they've been done, but I'm not sure what they were. He said it would cost $250 to run a report. There were a bunch more questions on two more emails(rust preventitive compounds, and whether his license will let him drive a 3 car trailer)...and he didn't end up bidding anyhow. The truck didn't sell on Ebay.
I believe this guy wanted to start a business of buying cars in the US and selling them in Canada. Except this would have been his first time doing this so he hadn't researched it fully yet. He wanted our truck to be the one that pulls these vehicles in a trailer...I'm not sure how any of that would have worked.
