Want to remove the DTR cable and swing it out of the way for better access to the Oxygen sensor.
How does the shift cable disconnect from its mounting bracket?
Once its removed, is the Digital Transmission Range sensor (DTR) adjustment changed?
The cable has to get disconnected from the bracket before it can come off the shift lever. How the cable is fastened to the bracket is my puzzle. It appears to have a multi-part fastener wrapped around the cable, and retaining it within the brackets elongated slot. I'm sure it has to be "unsnapped" at the proper place. Wish I had a good picture. Don't want to do any un-necessary forcing and ending up with a broken part. It’s only made out of plastic. Then again, once its unsnapped and freed up, will it come apart in couple pieces necessitating readjustment of the cable and/or sensor.

Nothing in the Ford Manual on that, sorry. It just says "Disconnect the shift cable from the bracket."
