<TABLE><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top width="100%">I have a 93 bronco that showed the problem when I got stuck in a snow bank. I push the 4X4 button and the 4X4 light comes on but is not in 4 wheel drive. While the 4X4 light is on and I'm in neutral, if I push the Low button I hear the familar clunk and I'm in 4 wheel low. If I turn the 4 wheel low off, then I'm in 4 wheel High. Press the 4X4 button again and I'm back in 2 wheel drive. This use to be easier. Any suggestions.

Check wiring harness. Or the box on passernger side behind kick panel.
Ussually if low works the shift motor is OK .(But not always) So check all easy stuff first like wire connections . If light is coming on is there still the click or trying to click sound from passenger side?? If not I bet it a bad control box. Good luck
I checked the wiring harness and all looks good. I took the kick panel off and can hear the clicking noises. In another post they said to disconnect the left wiring harness from the electronic controller and with the key on push the white button. When I do this the red light stays on. They said this indicates a problem with the electronic control and not the motor. What's your opinion. Another question. Does that electronic controller also control the windshield wipers. My intermintance wiper have been giving me trouble and I hear simular noises coming from the same area when I turm the wipers on. I've owned this vehicle for 15 years and it is not an off roader, (I use my Jeep TJ for that). Thanks
