Hey fellas,
First time poster.I just bought a 06 f150 supercab 4x4 with 73000 on it.I put about 150 of my own miles on it when the check eng. light came on.Had it scanned and it came up p0420&p0430,low catalyst threshold emmisions.I've heard check coolant temp sensor,o2 sensors after the cats and exhaust leaks. Anyone else have any tips? I haven't done any of these yet,I just haven't had the time.I'm gonna start looking in to that stuff this weekend.Anyone else ever had these errors,if so what did you guys do.I've always been a wrench turner but haven't worked on too much modern stuff.Oh yeah, the truck runs great, but I think I might hear a little exhaust leak or maybe my imagination, hope to find out this weekend.Just looking for more tips before I got started
come to find out whoever had it before me had punched out the catalytic convertors and the rearO2 sensors were setting it off. I got a hand held custom tuner that you could shut off the rear sensors and the check engine light stayed off
It usually took anywhere from 75 to 150 miles depending if it was highway or city miles. The highway miles taking it longer. If you search the forums there were a couple of other things that could cause the same error but i cant remember what they were right off hand. Not to scare you but i think one of them was an exhaust leak at the ex manifold but i'm not for sure?
