Wire under turbo

whats the wire under the intake side of the turbo? the one with the big black plastic connector, right under that crappy orange hose? i broke the clip on it today, just playing with it. i had another one of genious moments after checking intake side of turbo. i am turning 3-6 weeks of bed rest into 3-6 weeks of learn about sensors, and other neat stuff n junk on my beloved stroker. sounds like i'm breaking stuff too.

I think you are talking about the exhaust gate valve connector. A lot of folks disconnect those anyway. It helps the truck warm up quicker on a cold start (with a stock airbox) They are kinda prone to getting stuck closed

no loss of boost. the turbo is all the backpressure you could ever want. on wide open throttle runs it will be very close to boost.

no. unless the valve ever sticks on you then it will gain you tons of power to have it disabled. i would just unplug the thing. you will never regret it! That valve is the worst idea Ford/IH ever had!

No not really. it sounds better than when that valve stick/malfunctions and you trying to run down the road. Actually that valve sticking can be down right dangerous. just imagine needing to merge into traffic chained to a full loaded semi with flat tires. Thats what its like when the valve is closed

the valve only operates in cold weather, you will never hear it run in summer weather. in the cold it is only on at idle and very, very light throttle, it sounds like a big air leak when activated, no gains by having it disconnected, only the satisfaction of not dealing with the noise and oil leak from it.

and tim, caterepiller uses the backpressure valve on some of our trucks at work, granted its air operated but it is still tied into the exhaust brake to have dual functions, flip the switch one way and you get the jake effect, switch it the other to fully close the valve for quick warm-ups. works great

I have never noticed a slower warm up with the valve gone. I prefer no oil leaks and no stuck valve!!
