This car runs perfect and gets great milage. When starting it will idle rough and sputter and die. Give it some fuel and it will rev up and be fine. Some times after it's warmed up, you pull up to a light and it acts like it wants to die but doesn't and at take off it's fine. I cleaned the throtle body and used seafoam in the vacum line and got lots of white smoke but still the same thing. It's not throwing any codes so I don't know what to do. A year ago I changed the plugs and wires (pain in the a$$) Any ideas what else it could be. It's not every time just sometimes. Map sensor, Oxygen sensor, TP sensor?
The IAC is that solenoid on the side of the throttle body. I doubt you cleaned it that thoroughly, since you really have to remove it to do that. In many cases, it can't be cleaned with any great success. It can be replaced fairly inexpensively.
Well I changed out the IAC with a new one. It is better but we had a cold morning here in Texas and it's doing it again. When I changed it out I checked the gasket and it looked fine so I reused it. Should I have got a new one. What about the map sensor or oxeygen sensor and tp sensor. With no codes I can't figure it out.
I too have had this problem- but it seems to occur randomly. Some days, starts like a charm. Other days, starts fine, but dies thereafter. As long as I give it some gas, it runs like normal.
Someone told me in reference to the same problem that it may be the intake gaskets and told me to do a search (which I haven't got around to yet)- you may check into that also.
