The other day I did my normal "clean out the furnace to get it ready for winter" thing and now when it starts up the burners give off an orange tipped flame instead of the normal blue flame. Does this mean I need to adjust the air mix to allow less air or more?
The orange tip flame indicates that the gas/air mixture has to be adjusted. I believe that with the orange tip the mixture is too lean, but a call to your propane company should give you the info you need.
If there is not enough draft you will get that flame. Check to make sure the chimney is clear, and the heat exchanger clear. Propane will soot up the heat exchanger and plug it or restrict air flow.
Everythings fine now. It must have been stale gas or dust in the burners because this morning the flame is as blue as can be.
It was probably dust in the air from cleaning it. I get that in my shop when I sweep the floor. The flame turns orange for a couple of mins. then it's fine.
